GOOD FOOD IS BATANGAS GOLF COURSE COME-ON
Lipa City, Nov. 20, 1997 - A golf course with good restaurants, or good restaurants with a golf course?
What ever the case, the formula seems to work for the Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa. Marvin Verano, food and beverage manager of Club Malarayat, knows what golfers love.
"Golfers don't appreciate fancy stuff. They like mami as mami should be," Verano says.
The Malarayat golf course has 13 eateries within the club. Three outlets are in the golfing area: the driving range, halfway house and golfers' lounge. The rest are a coffee shop, a grill room, a ballroom and function rooms.
In addition, there are the hotel suites, lobby lounge and equestrian center, all of which can provide snacks and full-course dinners.
In keeping with company policy, all wait staff of the Club are from Batangas. Verano is concentrating on generating employment for Lipa residents. He sees the city booming in a few years.
"There is a lot of potential in Lipa; it's just untapped," he says.
