MATNOG FERRY TRANSFORMATION BEGINS
Matnog, Sorsogon, Nov. 18, 1997 - The Philippine Ports Authority will take over the management of the Matnog Ferry Terminal in preparation for the transformation of the facilities into a world-class ferry terminal by next year.
The national government has released some P13 million for the repair and maintenance of the old Matnog ferry terminal.
Philippine Ports Authority general manager Carlos Agustin held a consultative meeting with Sorsogon Governor Juan Frivaldo, Port Manager Silverio Mangawang and representatives of various government agencies involved in transportation and tourism.
They discussed the effects of an upgraded terminal on trade, tourism and investment activities in the Bicol region's southernmost area, as promised by President Ramos in a recent visit.
