WORLD'S TOP PRESS BRASS VISIT BORACAY
Boracay Island, Nov. 6, 1997 - All is set for the two-day festivities here in honor of 50 publishers and editors of the top newspapers and magazines in the world.
Fil-Estate's Fairways and Bluewater Resort Golf and Country Club and the Department of Tourism will host the Boracay Island idyll of the International Press Institute Board on November 8 and 9.
The IPI board will test the just-completed Graham Marsh-designed championship course of Fairways and Bluewater, and will tour the world-renowned Boracay beaches.
The nature tour, which is the IPI group's last activity for the annual meet held in Manila, will showcase Boracay's pristine blue waters, powdery fine white sand and clean environment.
Heading the delegation are IPI director Johann Frits, IPI executive board chairman and New York Times managing editor Eugene Roberts and IPI Philippines national committee chairman Max Soliven.
They will be greeted at the Kalibo airport with an ati-atihan welcome, and will be ferried to the island on board the Bluewater Lady luxury ferry boat. DOT will host a luau-inspired dinner on Nov. 8, when they are welcomed by DOT Secretary Mina Gabor and Fairways and Bluewater Chairman Noel Carino.
The next morning, golfers in the group will tee-off and play Fairways and Bluewater's first nine holes, while the rest of the group will scuba dive, swim and explore around the island.
