3 PINOY KARTERS DISQUALIFIED
Carmona, Cavite, Nov. 29, 1997 - Three top Filipino karters were barred from participating in the FVR Cup 1997 CIK/FIA Shell Asian Zone Challenge and the fourth Philippine International Kart Prix which began today.
The governing Confederation Internationale du Karting (CIK) did not recognize the Grade A FIA national licenses of Karter of the Year Pierre Tuason of Morisawa Racing and Team Ericsson's Pepon Marave and Richard Joson.
The three went to court to secure a retraining order to join the race, but the TRO was not issued in time for the race.
They put the blame on the Philippine Motor Association, the FIA representative, especially Dennis Ayuyao, the CIK steward for Asia, for alleged technical negligence.
The three drivers discovered that communications between Ayuyao and CIK president Ernest Buser showed a two-week delay in the submission of the entry list, prompting the CIK to inform Ayuyao that the three cannot participate.
