100 TEAMS VIE FOR FIL-AM GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
Baguio City, Nov. 23, 1997 - At least a hundred teams are expected to tee off from Dec. 1 to 6 during the 48th annual men's Fil-Am International Amateur Golf tournament, besting the 72 teams that played last year.
Last year's champion, Manila Southwoods, is confident of defending its title against opponents from all parts of the Philippines and from neighboring countries. The games will be played at both the Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club golf courses.
This will be the last tournament that Camp John Hay will host before it closes down to make way for a world-class golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus.
The Fil-Am Golf was once listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest amateur golf tournament in the world.
