JAPAN FIELD 6 KARTERS TO FVR CUP
Carmona, Cavite, Nov. 23, 1997 - Japan will attempt to maintain its supremacy in the sport as it field six karters in the FVR Cup 1997 CIK/FIA Shell Asian Zone Challenge and the fourth Philippine International Kart Prix set for next weekend at the Carmona Circuit.
World Cup Karting veteran Tomakazu Ochiai will try to repeat Kintaro Kitakami's 1996 feat with an Ital-Corse chassis. The rest of the Japanese team will uses high-tech Ital System engines.
Aside from host Philippines and Japan, the other participating countries are: Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Taipei.
Thirty six Intercon-A karters will dispute the Asian Championship Crown in the event that's jointly organized by the Office of the Press Secretary, the Department of Tourism, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Information Agency, PIKA, PIKP and the Philippine Motor Association.
