FIRST ENDURO TRIATHLON SUNDAY IN DILIMAN

Quezon City, Nov. 21, 1997 - The University of the Philippines' swimming team and the Triathlon Club will stage the first-ever Enduro triathlon at the UP Diliman Campus on Sunday.

The "double sprint" event will feature a 300-meter swim, 9-kilometer bike and 3-kilometer run done consecutively.

Race director Noel Rivera announced that the competition is on an invitational basis and is expected to draw from 35-40 participants, some of whom are from the National Triathlon Training Pool the UP Triathlon Club and the Manila Triathlon Club.

This first-ever event is patterned after the International Triathlon Union Grand Prix Series, and is supported by the UP College of Human Kinetics, UP varsity team and Triathlon Club and the Triathlon Association of the Philippines, along with a few commercial sponsors.
