PENALOSA STILL OVERWEIGHT FOR KOREA FIGHT
Manila, Nov. 20, 1997 - World Boxing Council super-flyweight champion Gerry Penalosa defend his title in South Korea on Sunday with a few extra pounds under his belt.
Penalosa was four pounds over the 115-pound WBC super-flyweight limit when he left Manila Tuesday for Songnam City, about an hour for Seoul, where the title bout will be held.
It will be the first time for Penalosa to see action in South Korea, and his Filipino trainers are worried about the effect of a bitter winter weather on the fighter.
The title fight between Penalosa and 8th-ranked challenger Young Chun-joo will be beamed live to the Philippines starting at 3:00 pm.
