PUREFOODS OVER MOBILINE, ENTERS SEMIS
Pasay City, Nov. 19, 1997 - Purefoods squeezed past Mobiline, 93-91, last night at the Cuneta Astrodome to enter the Philippine Basketball Association GovernorsCup semifinals.
The Phone Pals were ahead, 85-84, when Alvin Patrimonio scored on a 3-point play with 41 seconds left. Dindo Pumaren followed with two free throws. With 22 seconds to go, Pumaren intercepted a pass and Bong Revena scored a layup that sealed the match.
Import Mike Jones paced the scores with 21 points and 11 rebounds. The Beefies will meet topnotcher San Miguel Beer in the best-of-five semifinals.
In the second game of the night, Sta. Lucia Realty swamped Gordon's Gin, 102-93, to qualify for the semis.
