CEBU READY FOR ASIA PACIFIC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
Cebu City, Nov. 18, 1997 - An international field of 80 players will see action in the 199 Asia Pacific Golf Confederation Seniors Amateur Open championship starting Wednesday at the par- 72 Alta Vista Country Club.
The 3-day tourney is a two-in-one event, with players from Australia, Taiwan and the Philippines competing in the APGA championship while local teams participate in the National Inter-Club.
Playing for the Philippines are Mandaluyong Mayor Ben Abalos, Toto Bautista, Danny Dalija, Antonio Garcia, Alex Montelibano and Danny Pizarro.
The golf course was designed by Gary Player and overlooks the shoreline of Mactan Island. At par-72 and 5,670 yards, the course is relatively short but the fairways are tight, requiring players to hit straight from the tee.
The Inter-Club seniors tournament is organized by the National Golf Association of the Philippines headed by Rep. Eduardo Ermita.
