FILIPINO WINS GOLD IN INTERNATIONAL WUSHU TILT
Manila, Nov. 14, 1997 - Chairman Julian Camacho of the Wushu Federation of the Philippines proudly announced that Asia's cudgel champion Mark Robert Rosales clinched the gold medal in the just-concluded 4th World Wushu Championships held in Rome, Italy.
"Our athletes have reaffirmed the world power status of the Philippines. Producing champions for every world championship is our commitment to excellence," he said.
The Philippines also won one silver courtesy of Rolly Chulhang and three bronzes, placing the country ninth behind perennial champions China, Hong Kong and Russia.
76 countries participated in the tourney, considered the ultimate and most prestigious wushu tilt in the world.
