SAN MIGUEL TAKES FIRST PBA Q'FINAL SLOT

Pasay City, Nov. 3, 1997 - San Miguel gabbed the first quarterfinal slot in the Philippine Basketball Association's Governor's Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome last night, beating defending champion Alaska Milk 91-90.

The victory gave the Beermen an 8-3 slate for the solo lead in the overall standings.

Meanwhile, Formula Shell has been practically eliminated after a loss to Pop Cola, 102-94, boosting the Bottlers' position with 4 wins and 7 losses. Pop Cola is now tied with Mobiline, and still has a chance of making the four-team quarterfinals.
