MANOTOC'S YOUNGEST SON TOPS GATORADE TENNIS MEET
Pasig City, Nov. 3, 1997 -Matthew Manotoc bested veteran Marc David Andrada to capture the 11th leg of the Gatorade-Penn age group tennis circuit at the Rizal Sports Complex in Pasig.
The Singapore-based Manotoc, grandson of the late President Ferdinand Marcos and son of actress-artist Imee Marcos, rallied from a set down to win the next two sets, 3-6, 7-4, 6-3 and rule his age division in the tournament.
But his two older brothers -- Martin and Michael -- bowed to the opposition.
Martin, also known as Borgy, took a misstep and sprained his ankle, failing to keep the momentum of his big 6-3, 6-1 victory over top seed Anuj Ladha in the semis. He was retired by Flint Almiron in the finals of the 14-under category, 6-2, 3-6, 3-2 (ret).
