JOHN ESTRADA: KONTRABIDA, WALANG BOMBA
Manila, Nov. 29, 1997 - Actor John Estrada would rather play villains than be a leading man who strips on screen.
It's been a topsy-turvy showbiz life for John since he left Basilan island to find work as a model, and married controversial actress Janice de Belen at a very young age. Being a husband and father transformed him, and a regular role on the weekly sitcom "Palibhasa Lalake" changed his outlook on acting.
He is now in a co-starring role with Cesar Montano in the movie "Sanggano" directed by Toto Natividad.
Although his dream role is that of gay character similar to Tom Hanks in "Philadelphia," Estrada draws the line at male nudity and male-to-male kissing.
He keeps Sundays free for a noontime fellowship mass with wife Janice, their three daughters and stepson Iggy, who John treats like his own son. Iggy is the son of Janice and Aga Muhlach.
