SUSAN ROCES TO RUN FOR MAYOR OF SAN JUAN

San Juan, Metro Manila, Nov. 23, 1997 - The talk of the town is the candidacy of Movie Queen Susan Roces, Mrs. Fernando Poe in real life, for mayor of San Juan to replace current Mayor Jinggoy Ejercito.

According to a front page story of the Sunday Bulldog Tonight, Susan will run under the banner of the Laban ng Makabayang Masang Pilipino or LAMMP, the coalition party which will field for the presidency former actor and now Vice President Joseph Estrada.

Estrada had been trying to convince "Action King" Fernando Poe, Jr. to run for mayor of San Juan, or for any elective position. When Poe continued to decline, Estrada convinced Susan.

The present San Juan mayor is Estrada's son, who will run for a seat in the House of Representatives.
