ARIEL RIVERA SLAMS IRRESPONSIBLE COLUMNISTS
Manila, Nov. 14, 1997 - Ariel Rivera gave the press some bitter pills to swallow at the press conference for Star Cinema's "Ikaw Pala ang Mahal Ko" held at ABS-CBN.
"When I entered the room i could sense a lot of people were against me. When they asked me questions, I gave hem straight answers. If you earn my respect, I'll kill for you, I'll die for you. But what I don't like is the feeling utang na loob mo sa amin when they interview you.
"What I hate most is the star complex. If you're a big star, di ba you have to set a good example?
"I don't mean to belittle people, but there are members of the press who ask the stupidest questions, like 'how do you sleep' or 'do you sleep in your underwear' or how big is your ano."
"What I don't like, moreover, is you go by what you hear (blind items). It is your responsibility as writers to find the real facts. It is your responsibility as human beings to present the real facts."
The people who attended the press conference felt the forum did not improve the relationship between Ariel and the press.
