NORA AUNOR ASKS VIVA TO RELEASE SON FROM CONTRACT
Manila, Nov.11, 1997 - Nora Aunor is on the warpath again, this time for her only son Ian de Leon.
The superstar could not contain her feelings about what she calls an "injustice" committed by Viva Films in connection with her son's movie career, which has been frozen by the studio.
In an interview published by the Evening Tempo, Nora said "it is not right for Viva to sign up an actor to an exclusive contract for a specific number of films and then not give the actor any movie assignments."
"I want to help my son, but how can I when he's tied up to a contract with Viva for a number of pictures? I have to wait until the contract is finished. But how will the contract be fulfilled if Viva does not give him any movie to shoot?" lamented Ms. Aunor.
"It appears that Viva wants my son Ian exclusively, it looks like all Viva wants is to hide him. But what about his career?
Nora still hopes this problem can be resolved. She wants Viva to come out and say whether the outfit still feels they can use Ian, and if not then they should release him from his contract so that the actor can accept offers from other film companies.
