JAO'S WHOLESOME IMAGE SURVIVES
"MATRIKULA"
(Reprinted with permission from the Journal E&S)
Manila, Nov. 6, 1997 - Jao Mapa is so glad he did the mature movie "Matrikuka" which he admits revitalized his dwindling career. He's grateful to the producer Premiere Productions and. of course, to leading lady Rosanna Roces for her encouragement and tips.
The young actor is happy that the movie has not at all affected his wholesome image. In fact, he has recently been cited again by the Department of Health for upholding his clean image that is drug-free, vice-free, etc., and for being a good example to the youth. He had received the same citation four years ago from the DOH.
He also was adjudged Most Promising Actor and this was after the movie "Matrikula."
Jao insists that "Matrikula" is not a senseless bold movie. He revealed that all those blind items and rumors linking him to co-star Rossana Roces were merely publicity ploys for the movie.
"I respect her family and I can't stand na ako pa ang magiging cause ng pagkasira noon."
