CACAI AND REGINE, SISTERS TOGETHER IN CONCERT
Manila, Nov. 5, 1997 - The Velasquez sisters -- as similar as two family members can get, yet as different as sisters can be.
Their eyes, lips, and even their voices appear to be the same. Soulful eyes that gaze back almost with a challenge, lips that imply a smile even when stern. and both admit to being highly dedicated to their craft and to being very disciplined performers.
But the two sisters want to be known as individuals, with distinct singing styles and personalities.
Regine Velasquez has a real-life story that would make a good movie. It's a rags-to-riches tale that narrates the emergence from probinsiyana to an internationally recognized pop icon. Regine's private life, full or love, color and intrigue, filled movie columns and tabloids for many years.
In 1995, younger sister Cacai was introduced to the public via the musical "Alikabok" and it's been an uphill climb to get out from under the shadow of sister Regine. Cacai took another step, became the co-host of GMA's Sunday show SOP. She went ahead and recorded songs, resulting in two hit singles and one gold album.
Now the two sisters are finally ready to face the world together on stage. The first of a series of concerts will be held at the UST Sports Complex. "CAF'a Regine" is Regine's first after returning from a series of very successful concerts in Europe.
