FVR URGED TO NAME ANOINTED ASAP
Batasang Pambansa, Nov. 30, 1997 - Claiming that politics is getting in the way of major economic measures pending Congress approval, senior members of the House of Representatives yesterday appealed to President Ramos to name his anointed presidential candidate as soon as possible.
President Ramos was reported to have told the Financial Times of London that he would announce his choice for the administration's standard bearer within 10 days upon his return to Manila on December 2.
The appeal was made by Representatives Pedro Romualdo, Raul Gonzales, Roque Ablan, Vicente Tagle and Temistocles Deuon.
The solons noted that there are barely 24 days left before the 10th Congress adjourns in February for the electoral campaign. Congress takes a one-month break from December 18 to January 18, and sessions will be held Mondays to Thursdays From January 19 to February 6.
