MARAWI EDUCATOR RECEIVES PEACE AWARD

Marawi City, Nov. 28,1997 - The lady president of the Mindanao State University was conferred an international award for promoting global peace and understanding through education.

The distinguished alumnus award was given to Nurlaylah Emily Marohombsar by the East-West Center during its 3-day conference in New Delhi early this week.

Marohombsar was cited for her "exceptional professional accomplishments and contributions toward the East-West Center's goal in promoting East-West relations."

Early this year, the MSU president was also given the Nut Nyak Bhien Filipina title, as the first Filipino recipient of the award by Banda Aceh, a prominent institution in Indonesia.

Marohombsar is the wife of former Lanao del Sur Vice Governor and Assemblyman Abdulgani Marohombsar and is the daughter of the late Col. Luis Marohombsar, a military governor of Lanao.
