SIX WELLS TO SOLVE BACLARAN WATER CRISIS
Paranaque, Nov. 23, 1997 - Paranaque Mayor Joey Marquez has ordered the immediate construction of six deep wells in Baclaran to provide potable water for residents during the water crisis brought about by the El Nino phenomenon.
Marquez met with Baclaran Barangay Captain Rolando Cailles and members of the Barangay Council for the first of many conferences dealing with the town's water scarcity problem.
The other 15 Barangay Captains of the municipality are preparing for submission their own plans of action, including location maps and costings for deep wells in their jurisdictions.
Paranaque is hardly reached by the water distributed throughout Metropolitan Manila from La Mesa and Angat Dams. Residents largely depend on private deep wells and water vendors.
