PASIG BANS PRESSURIZED CAR WASH SHOPS
Pasig City, Nov. 19, 1997 - Pasig City Mayor Vicente Eusebio became the first local government executive to ban pressurized car wash shops in an effort to conserve water during the current drought.
Mayor Eusebio ordered the cancellation of all business permits of pressurized car washers, and directed his personnel to monitor all the shops to ensure that they stay padlocked for the duration of the water crisis.
He also urged car wash shop owners to play fair and not try any "guerilla tactics" because city monitors will roam all night to enforce the ban.
The city executive is advising Pasig residents to return to the old system of pail-and- sponge, which uses a lot less water than the pressurized water hoses.
