ZAMBOANGA SPEEDBOATS FROM MALAYSIA

Zamboanga City, Nov. 15, 1997 - The city government of Zamboanga has purchased two speedboats from Malaysia for use of the "Bantay Dagat Movement" to conduct safety sea patrol against sea pirating and illegal fishing.

But since the speedboats are not equipped for fighting sea crimes, they are still held at shore since its purchase in 1994. A consideration is being passed to lease out the speedboats for tourists use for the meantime to procure some income and a resolution is also planned for the purchase of motorized pumpboats for use by the Bantay Dagat force.
