MOST SHARES DOWN BUT PHISIX GAINS 10 POINTS
Manila, Nov. 29, 1997 - The Philippine Stock Exchange index gained 10 points from last-minute blue chips trading, but most share values continued to decline yesterday.
Trading was very light, with 1.92 billion shares changing hands, valued at P847.14 million. Losers outnumbered gainers 74-36. All sectors, except the oils, managed marginal gains.
Big gainers included Atlas Fertilizer, up 45.83% to P0.70; Air Philippines, up 20.83% to P0.29; Filipino Fund, up 29.03% to P0.80 and Atok Big Wedge, up 19% to P59.50.
Losers were led by Abacus Financial One B, down 40% to P0.78; Central Azucarera de Carlota, down 40% to P1.62; Alcorn Petroleum, down 40% to P0.0036.
The peso traded at P34.763 to the US dollar.
