ECOZONE INVESTMENTS TRIPLE TO P151-BILLION
Manila, Nov. 28, 1997 - Total investments with the Philippines Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) for the first eleven months of 1997 are triple the value registered for the same period last year.
In its regular monthly report, the PEZA said the investments worth P151.543 billion from January to November, 1997, were for new ecozones and expansions of existing ones.
The year began with 48 industrial zones covering an area of 7,659 hectares. Added to that are some of the biggest new developments, such as the P1.5-billion First Cagayan de Oro Business Park, the P3.8-billion Hermosa Ecozone in Bataan, the P1.75-billion Leganes Industrial Growth Center in Iloilo, the P1.7 Buenavista ecozone in Guimaras, the P1.959-billion Luisita Industrial Park and the P2.246-billion White Lily Industrial Park in Calamba, Laguna.
Ecozones are classified either as export processing zones, industrial estates, free trade zones, tourist/recreation complexes and investment, banking, commercial and financial centers.
