STOCKS RISE ON LOW INTEREST BUZZ
Manila, Nov. 15, 1997 - Stocks were on an upswing yesterday for the first time in three days, amid rising hopes for a stabilized peso and a cut in interest rates.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index rose 41.40 points, or 2.3 percent to 1,844.95, he biggest one-day gain in two weeks. There were 58 gainers, 42 losers.
Mining and oil shares dropped 1.54 points and .09 point; banks and financial services gained 8.19 points, commercial and industrial rose 53.08 points.
Ayala Corp rose 8.3 percent to close at P13, its property arm Ayala Land rose 3.9 percent to P13.25.
San Miguel class B fell P1.50 to P45, while class A shares rose P0.40 to P39.50.
