NEW DOMESTIC PORT IN CAVITE PROPOSED
Bacoor, Cavite, Nov. 2, 1997 - If the Philippine Ports Authority could have its way, there would be a new domestic port facility at the end of the Bacoor reclamation area, to decongest the North Harbor.
The 90-hectare Bacoor port is only one of several sites now being evaluated for development of a new port south of Manila, to address the growing demand generated in the industrial-estate areas of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon, collectively known as Calabarzon.
Proposals for the development of the project have been received from nine business conglomerates that include Japan International Cooperation Agency, The Greater Capital Region Integrated Port Development Study, Hopewell, the Regal Bay Corporation and the California Bay Corporation.
