CEBU PACIFIC FLIGHTS TO MALAYSIA SOON
Manila, Oct. 22, 1997 - The Philippine government wants more passenger and cargo flights on between Kuala Lumpur and Manila.
The Manila Times reports that the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) is requesting a meeting with the Malaysian government in November to discuss possible increases in air traffic rights for their designated carriers.
The present agreement allows Malaysian Airlines System, Malaysia's designated carrier, and Philippine Air Lines, the Philippine carrier, to operate 9 flights a week. Cargo is pinned to 120 tons weekly .
According to Manila Times sources, the Philippine proposal s in view of the entry of Cebu Pacific, the country's other flag carrier. There are also pending requests from PAL and Pacific East Asia Cargo Airlines for an increase in their existing entitlements.
