GORDON'S GIN SQUEEZES PAST SHELL, 107-105
Pasay City, Oct. 30, 1997 - Gordon's Gin nearly lost to Formula Shell last night, but came from behind and pulled a 107-105 win in the PBA Governor's Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome. The narrow victory improved Gordon's standing with a 6-win, 4-loss record.
It was import Leon Trimmingham who sparked the Boars in the fourth period, erasing the 90-97 deficit by knocking down six points, mostly on inside incursions, levelling the score to 100- all with 4:16 left in the game.
Williams add Paras combined for three free throws which again pushed Shell up 103-100 with 3:37 to go.
But the Boars recovered and Terry Saldana sank two free throws, with Trimmingham adding three more to recover at 105-103. A bank shot from Paras tied the game 105-all, and with six seconds to go Vince Hizon shot a marginal basket off a pass by Noli Locsin to win the game.
