BALLROOM, NATIONAL DANCE SPORT CONTEST BEGINS

Manila, Oct. 25, 1997 - The First National Dance Sport Championship will be held today and tomorrow at the ULTRA. At stake is the Dance Sports Council Chairman's Cup.

Forty representatives from all over the country, winners of local contests, will participate.

The first four pairs of winners will represent the Philippines in the 4th Asia-Pacific Dance Sport Championship in Taipeh on November 15-16. Another set of winners will be the Philippine representatives to the 2nd Asia Dance Sport Championship, hosted for the first time by the Philippines at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on November 18 and 19.

Becky Garcia, president of the council, said foreign judges have been invited to the Manila meet.
