PUREFOODS BEEFIES CRUSH STA LUCIA REALTORS
Pasay City, Oct. 22, 1997 - Sta. Lucia got dislodged from its Number One position in the overall standings last night with a defeat in the hands of Purefoods.
Coming off a heartbreaking loss, the Beefies vented their frustrations on the Realtors, for a very convincing 100-80 win at last night's PBA Governor's Cup games at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Purefoods mentor Eric Altamirano was all confidence after the game. "It's my team's character," he said. "They have the capability to get back after losing."
Just two days back, the Beefies were trounced by Gordon's. "This time," says Altamirano, "we beat them to it."
He credited much of the victory to import Mike Jones, who was invaluable in the defensive strategy. "The Realtors beat us before because we had no one to stop their import Sean Green, but today we have Mike who can defend well against anyone."
