GORDON'S GIN BLASTS PUREFOODS
Pasay City, Oct. 20, 1997 - Gordon's Gin has joined Sta. Lucia and San Miguel in the lead of the PBA Governor's Cup elimination after trashing Purefoods, 100-98, at the Cuneta Astrodome last night.
The Boars were behind, 87-93, in the final three minutes of the game, when Leon Trimmingham, Marlou Aquino and Bal David rallied to register a suspenseful victory, which broke a 2-game losing streak.
Purefoods' Alvin Patrimonio attempted to extend the game with a desperate shot, but missed the target as the buzzer signalled the end of the game.
Gordon's playing coach Robert Jaworski was all praise for Trimmingham and his entire team. "Trimmingham demonstrated his court savvy tonight. I congratulate the guy for his remarkable performance. My local players also contributed and I am proud of them all."
