ELMA MUROS GUNNING FOR 2000 OLYMPICS
Jakarta, Oct. 19, 1997 - Heptathlon and long jump queen Elma Muros-Posadas is not, definitely not quitting after the South East Asian Games. On the contrary, she has her eyes on bigger competitions -- the Sydney Summer Olympics in the year 2000.
"I'm very happy that at the age of 30 I can maintain the desire and the ability to win, " she said. "Maybe I'll go to Sydney for the 2000 Olympics if I can get the chance."
Muros lost her 100-meter-dash crown and then decided not to defend her 200-meter title to concentrate on the heptathlon. She also lost her 100-m hurdles record to Thailand's Watanasin Reawadee who led with a record 13.23 seconds.
