ELMA IS SEA GAMES HEPTATHLON QUEEN
Jakarta, Oct. 16, 1997 - Filipina Elma Muros-Posadas earned a new title yesterday as she ruled the heptathlon in the 19 South East Asian Games (SEA Games) at the Senayan Stadium.
Beaten in the 100-meter finals the day before, Muros-Posadas was redeemed in the gruelling heptathlon, raking up a total of 5,269 points for a new Games record. It was her second gold medal in this year's games, following her successful defense of the long jump title that she's held for many years.
The Philippines' Taekwondo team delivered gold for the fourth straight day as the delegation kept fourth place in the medal standing behind Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
In the men's basketball division, the Philippines beat Thailand, 70-64, to move ahead in its defense of the title.
