SHELL IN FIRST WIN; PUREFOODS STOPS GORDON'S

Pasay City, Oct. 15, 1997 - The long, dry spell is over for Shell. The Zoom Masters finally awoke and beat Pop Cola, 101-96. They face Mobiline Sunday for a chance to improve their present 1-6 tally which keeps the team at the bottom of the standings.

In the second game held last night at the Cuneta Astrodome, Purefoods halted Gordon's 4-game winning streak, 101-91, to climb into a tie with San Miguel for third place with four wins and three losses.

Gordon's second loss in six games allowed Sta. Lucia to return to first place in the standings, with five victories and two losses.

Purefoods import Mike Jones exploded with 39 points, nine rebounds, four assists and six blocks.
