FEU IN OVERTIME WIN FOR UAAP TITLE

Quezon City, Oct. 10, 1997 - Far Eastern University pulled through inn overtime for a very close 65-64 win over La Salle to grab the UAAP men's basketball championship at the Araneta Coliseum last night.

It was Edwin Manabat who sank the pass from teammate Michael Oliver in the last 7 seconds, giving FEU a one-point lead.

The Archers had a five-point lead in the last five second of the regulation game, 56-51, but the Tamaraws refused to surrender and forced the extra period with the score of 58-58 throughout the last 58 seconds .

In the Junior category, Ateneo pulled off an exciting 69-66 victory over Santo Tomas to sweep their best-of-three series for the UAAP junior basketball championship crown.
