WORLD CHAMPS AT INTERNATIONAL KARTING PRIX IN CAVITE
Carmona, Cavite, Oct. 9, 1997 - More than 60 world-class racers from 13 countries will compete in the 4th Philippine International Karting Prix and the 1997 CIK/FIA Challenge Shell Asia Zone Karting (PKIP '97) at the Carmona Circuit Philippines from November 27-30.
PKIP chairman Honesto Isleta says the event will be hosted by the Department of Tourism as part of the government's effort to attract more tourists and to project a positive international image for the country.
The joint races will be sanctioned by the Federation Internationale du Sport Automobile/Commission Internationale de Karting (FIA/CIK), the world governing body for karting.
Past and present world champions will be participating, representing Italy, Great Britain, United States, Australia, Belgium, Sweden, Macau, Hong Kong, Japan, the Netherlands, Indonesia and the Philippines.
A novice category has been included to encourage wider participation among new karters.
