DONNA'S TRAINING HARSH BUT EFFECTIVE
Manila, Oct. 29, 1997 - Donna Cruz has no regrets about obeying her mother's wishes, even when the training methods used were harsh and Spartan.
"Now I understand why my mom always locked me in a room just to master songs by Leah Navarro and Sharon Cuneta," Donna narrates. "I used to feel that I was being put behind bars because I felt that she was robbing me of a part of my youth."
Donna confesses that here were times when she wanted to rebel against her mother because she resented the way she was being trained. But realizing her own limitations, she immediately forgot the bitterness against her mom.
"I was not wrong at all to obey, because when my mom saw that I could already decide on my own, she let me do it."
As a young girl, Donna won an international singing award, which catapulted her to fame when she returned home with the prize. She is now considered one of the highest paid actresses in the industry. She already has a best actress supporting trophy for Viva's "Muling Buksan ang Puso" entered in the 1995 Manila Film Festival. She also has several Awit and Katha singing awards.
