APRIL BOY REVIVES VICTOR WOOD HITS
Manila, Oct. 29, 1997 - The latest rage in the music world these days is the revival of Victor Wood's hits by April Boy Regino.
Song revivals have always been a part of every album he has recorded, from the time he made Eddie Peregrina's "What Am I Living For." For his latest LP, April Boy waxes two of Victor Wood's greatest hits: "Mr. Lonely" and "Eternally."
Ivory Records president Tony Ocampo clarifies that although April Boy could be given the title Revival King, it would not really be the whole story.
"He became popular on the strength of his own music and style. It was our idea for him to record the hits of Eddie Peregrina because we wanted him to pay tribute to the late singer, whose songs were part of the decade he lived in. They were well received by the public," he said.
For future album projects, April Boy hopes to be given the opportunity to record songs popularized by Gary Valenciano, whom he has idolized as far back as he can remember. But his greatest dream is to be able to do a duet with Sharon Cuneta.
