MARTIN SHEEN ON ANTI-POVERTY MISSION IN RP
Mnila, Oct. 28, 1997 - Hollywood actor and environmental activist Martin Sheen will visit the Philippines next month to lead an international fact-finding mission on the plight of the urban poor in the Philippines.
For three days in November, Martin Sheen and company will go around the slums of Metro Manila to help drum up international support for the country's urban poor in their struggle against the demolition of their shanties and their right to have decent shelter.
Sheen, the father of actors Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez, stayed in the Philippines for several months while filming the multi-awarded movie "Apocalypse Now" with director Francis Ford Coppola and Marlon Brando in the seventies. His sons came back several times to shoot movies about the Vietnam war.
