RUFFA IN HOLLYWOOD FOR SCREEN TEST

Manila, Oct. 26, 1997 - Ruffa Gutierrez will not be around for her mother Annabel Rama's birthday party next week. Is the irrepressible Annabel mad, hurt or angry? Surprisingly, she's not.

Annabel claims her only daughter has been in the United States for a long time studying, preparing in a workshop for the chance to do a screen test for a possible role in a Hollywood movie.

"In Hollywood, it's already a big thing to be given a screen test or be asked to read for even a small role. That is the chance Ruffa is waiting for," Annabel told Malaya's Ethel Ramos.

"Ruffa has already gotten herself an agent. As far as she's concerned, there's nothing wrong if she hopes and tries and tries again, as long as there's even a slim chance for her to succeed."

Ruffa's absence from Manila has sparked a lot of ugly rumors, including the perennial "infanticipating" which was belied by very slim contours during her appearance in a recent fashion show with Melanie Marquez.
