JAO MAPA KICKED OUT OF UST?
Manila, Oct. 23, 1997 - The tabloid Evening Tempo movie reporter Earl Blue reports that this is the last semester for Jao Mapa at the University of Sto. Tomas.
Tempo says Jao's classmates have learned that the priests at UST were not pleased with the movie he starred in opposite sex siren Rosanna Roces. The bold film "Matrikula" showed some pretty daring scenes of Jao and Rosanna making love.
The priests reportedly found the scenes offensive and unacceptable, and ruled that the actor violated school regulations against appearing in sexually-explicit shows and films.
Jao is enrolled at the University of Sto. Tomas College of Fine Arts. He was considered a role model for the youth because of his wholesome image. But that was before he made "Matrikula."
This image problem is also affecting his modelling career, because manufacturers of products that were being considered for his endorsement are now having second thoughts.
The press, and the public, are awaiting Jao's side of the story.
