VICTOR WOOD RETURNING WITH NEW ALBUM
Manila, Oct. 21, 1997 - The big news in music circles is the impending return of Victor Wood. Yes, Victor Wood is alive, doing business in California where he's lived and worked for the last 10 years.
Victor is coming home next month, and will launch his new album on November 25. Even before he returns, his song "You're My Everything" is already a big hit on radio. It's a duet with new Alpha singer Marika.
Alpha records top honcho Buddy de Vera says "Mr. Lonely" is definitely coming home to stay a while.
Victor, the half-American mestizo with Tom Jones eyes, was a jukebox sensation in the 70s alongside Nora Aunor and Eddie Peregrina. He is best remembered for songs like "Eternally," "Sweet Caroline," "Only You," and You Are My Destiny."
He left the Philippines ten years ago amid rumors that he was shot and killed. It was a time when the music trend was veering away from his type of songs.
Victor's new album was recorded entirely in the United States. Some of the songs in his comeback album are: "Mahal na Mahal Kita," "Lonely Day, Lonely Nights," "Sa Iyong Kaarawan."
It's going to be a very timely return. His old songs are already being re-recorded by newer, younger star sensations. Just listen to the April Boys.
