GABBY CONCEPCION RETURNING FOR GABRIELA
Manila, Oct. 19, 1997 - Gabby Concepcion is coming home, writes the Manila Standard's Isah Red. The information supposedly comes from the self-exiled actor's friend Rod Samson.
According to Rod, Gabby is accepting an offer to play role in the movie about the Ilocana heroine Gabriela Silang, which will star half-Ilocana former First Daughter Imee Marcos.
Fans are wondering what the actor is going to do about his estranged wife, actress-model Jenny Syquia, who has filed several lawsuits against Gabby. There were reports that Jenny and Gabby have started out-of-court settlement negotiations, but there has been no official confirmation from either party so far.
The offer for the role in the historical bio-flick, says Rod, was made several months ago but Gabby needed a lot of time to weigh the pros and cons of returning home to "face the music" on so many fronts -- professional, legal and personal.
But his life has always been the movies, so no one will be surprised to see Gabby Concepcion back. The question now is: whether he could be back in time to shoot the movie "Gabriela" which is being rushed for showing in time for the election campaign.
The star of the movie, Ms. Imee Marcos, is reportedly running for governor of Ilocos Norte, and the movie will boost her candidacy. Imee and Gabby are "kinakapatid" because Imee's parents, former President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady Imelda Marcos, stood as Ninong and Ninang for Gabby's grand wedding to Megastar Sharon Cuneta
