WILL VILMA SANTOS RUN FOR LIPA CITY MAYOR?

Manila, Oct. 17, 1997 - Vilma Santos is about to start filming a new movie, "Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?" co-starring Ariel Rivera and Albert Martinez, but her mind is already on events beyond the film.

It is reported that Vilma is seriously considering the demand of Lipa City residents for her to run for the mayoralty of their city. When she turned them down, the city folk reportedly prepared for a huge rally to emphasize the support she has in the city.

Vilma's husband Batangas Congressman Ralph Recto, who is seeking re-election in May, is rumored to be against the idea.

The problem seems to be the indication that Vilma will surely win should she run. That makes the candidacy doubly tempting to the actress.

Friends are reminding Vilma to heed Dolphy's sound advice: "Madaling tumakbo, pero paano kung manalo?"
