IAN VENERACION -- MARRIED AND HAPPY
Manila, Oct. 16, 1997 - Actor-painter Ian Veneracion wed long-time girlfriend Pam Gallardo in very quiet ceremonies four months ago, foregoing the usual showbiz splurge and publicity.
This week, Ian finally came out and openly apologized to the press for keeping the wedding a secret, saying he never feared that marriage would affect his career as an action star.
"There are many other action stars who are married and they remain successful and popular," Ian said.
Ian and Pam went steady for three years before deciding to walk down the aisle. Ian describes his new bride as an ideal partner who attends to all the minute details of their home and his career. The young wife is also very supportive of Ian's expensive hobbies: oil painting, scuba diving, sky diving, flying.
"Before I get up in the morning, the car's been washed and all my needs are ready. Then she leaves the house after I leave for the studio, because she helps in her family's construction business," Ian narrated.
At this point, jealousy is no longer a problem between them, Ian said. Pam has become so well adjusted to his life as a show business personality that she takes things in stride, even rumors linking him to his leading ladies.
"She was only jealous of Beth Tamayo because I had a crush on Beth a long time ago. But she's not jealous anymore," Ian said.
"I love the feeling of having my own family, knowing that no matter what happens, there will always be someone there for you," Ian said looking very love-struck.
