COMEDIAN DENCIO PADILLA DEAD

Quezon City, Oct. 11, 1997 - Veteran comedian Dencio Padilla, favorite sidekick of Fernando Poe Jr., died of cardiac arrest yesterday morning. He was 68 years old.

Tata Dens, as he was fondly called in showbiz, had been FPJ's partner in almost all of the action king's films until he went on his own playing supporting roles to other stars. He was known for his Batangueno accent.

Padilla was rushed to the hospital Sept. 30 complaining of chest pains. He was about to be checked out of the hospital yesterday when he suffered another heart attack.

He is survived by his children, one of whom is also a comedian, Dennis Padilla.
