CALOOCAN EMPLOYEES GET HUGE BONUSES
Caloocan City, Oct. 29, 1997 - It was an early Christmas for about 2,000 city government employees who received their third quarter salary differentials yesterday.
Mayor Rey Malonzo ordered the distribution of the checks in order to help the workers ride out the current economic crisis.
Each employee received P10,000 toP40,000 depending on their salary grades. Malonzo told them that the salary differentials in Caloocan were distributed on time while those of the neighboring towns and cities are still awaiting availability of funds.
Right after the checks were handed out, Malonzo instructed the budget department to prepare the funds for the workers' 13th month pay, Christmas bonus and productivity benefits. Those checks will be released on the first week of December.
