ZAMBALES BRIDGE COLLAPSE ISOLATES 6 TOWNS
Camp Aguinaldo, Oct. 28, 1997 - Reports reaching Manila today indicate that six Zambales towns are now isolated as a result of the collapse of the vital Apo-Apo Bridge linking the northern and southern towns of the province.
The bridge collapsed under the weight of a 10-wheeler truck filled with boulders. The truck's driver and his helper where injured as the truck plunged into the river.
Northbound and southbound vehicles had to stop, passengers walked to the other side of the bridge to continue their respective trips.
The Department of Public Works and Highways is now rushing repair teams to the site . Currently isolated are the towns of Botolan, Candelaria, Iba, Masinloc, Palauig and Sta. Cruz.
